Brief history of
ALLBIOTECH
2014-2017
The first ideas to consolidate a Latin American association of young leaders in biotechnology emerged during the realization of the first GapSummit in 2014 at the University of Cambridge, UK.
Later, in 2016, an international group of young people proposed the organization of an event that would bring together leaders and agents of change involved in the biotechnology industry in Latin America. In 2017, the name ALLBIOTECH arises, an initiative that had the support of CORFO and FIA Chile, for the holding of the First Latin American Summit of Young Leaders in Biotechnology, held during November at the Innovation Center of the P. Universidad Católica de Chile.
From that point the ALLBIOTECH community emerged, made up of more than 100 young leaders in biotechnology, from 17 countries in the region.
During the year 2018, our community participates in important events representing young Latinos in biotechnology, such as the CILAC 2018 Forum in Panama City and the BIO Latin American Conference, in Sao Paulo Brazil.
In November of the same year, the Second ALLBIOTECH Summit was held at the premises of the Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico. This Summit allowed us to involve 100 new members, consolidating the international presence and collaboration carried out by our community in the Latin American region.
2018
2019
Bringing together the interest and support of different actors involved in the bioeconomy and development of biotechnology in the region, our community organized the First Latin American Bioeconomy Forum (FOLABI19). This event was co-organized with the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA), taking place at its headquarters in San José, Costa Rica.
During November of the same year, we announced the holding of the Third Summit based in Rosario Argentina.
During this year, our community progresses in its consolidation by presenting a new organizational structure, consolidating a Board and Executive Committee for the period 2020-2022.
For the realization of the Third Summit in Argentina we have the support of the Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario and a network of international allies built through the collaboration and action of our members.
